The Harleysville Jaycees are very proud to support #IronDad23, a local foundation that was created to help continue the life’s work of Clark Deardorff. Clark was a passionate coach in the community and an incredible human being.
Clark’s story is nothing short of amazing, inspirational and tragic. Days before his wife giving birth to their second child, his wife Celeste drove Clark to the emergency room. A sudden ailment of sepsis in his shoulder led to near-death, an induced coma and ultimately the amputation of both of Clark’s arms, and shortly after, both of this legs.
Clark may have been a quadruple amputee but despite the extreme adversity of his situation, he maintained stalwart optimism and determination. And he always carried with him an undying desire to show thankfulness and appreciation to everyone that supported him.
With the help of prostheses and a tremendous amount of determination and hard work, Clark learned to walk and enjoy many activities with his kids before he passed away last September. At the time of his passing, he was survived by his two children and his wife, Celeste – pregnant with twins.
#IronDad23 is a nonprofit organization focused on helping make the world around us a better, happier place. With the help of its tireless staff, they assist student-athletes, sports organizations and local families in need.
